£75 million funding boost for UK’s world-class film and TV industry as part of landmark new Sector Plan

The UK Screen Alliance welcomes the government’s £75 million investment in the UK’s film and TV industry, aimed at securing the country’s position as a global production hub.

This investment forms a central part of the Creative Industries Sector Plan, which aims to enhance the UK’s status as a creative superpower by 2035. Key aspects of the funding include:

  • £75 million Screen Growth Package, alongside a £150 million Creative Places Growth Fund for regional screen agencies. This funding will be devolved to six Mayoral Strategic Authorities, from Manchester to Bristol and Sunderland, supporting the growth of local film and TV clusters.

The package includes:

  • Expansion of the UK Global Screen Fund to £18 million annually to promote co-productions and showcase UK films globally.
  • £21 million for the National Film and Television School to modernize facilities and train 2,000 new apprentices over the next decade.
  • £25 million investment in AR and motion capture technology, funding innovation labs for future film productions.
  • Continued support for the BFI London Film Festival, further strengthening the UK’s international appeal and attracting inward investment.

This package will help develop talent, foster innovation, and ensure that the UK remains a leader in the global film and TV industry.
